Mount Street Breakfast Bar has been on the blokes’ radar for quite some time. Indeed, its quasi-CBD location makes it an ideal spot for a quick nerve-settling brew prior to student job interviews of varying success. Thankfully, today there were no interviews to be had, and it was thus that the blokes descended upon Mount Street for a wintery brew…

Vibes 🍃- One of the blokes quipped that this is one of Perth’s prettiest streets - he may be correct. Mount Street feels a bit like standing on a peninsula between King Park and the Perth CBD, and the two are literally connected by a bridge close by. The interior is catered to a largely corporate clientele with sleek fittings and dimmed lighting. The service is rapid and professional. Fine dining at a cafe? A brave new world for the blokes, but very nice nonetheless.

Taste 👅- Long time no see for 5 Senses’s ‘Crompton Road’ blend, but it was a hoot to watch it grinding through the house hopper. It brought a heavier body with hints of caramel and chocolate that tended to linger. However, it didn't quite hit the smoothness and balance we're used to—it seemed a tad over-extracted on the morning… oh well, c’est la vie

Temperature 🌡- Really nonchalant if we’re being honest. Congrats.

Glass Size 📏 – For us, we really appreciated the glass size. 6oz👍.

Froth 🥛 – The froth levels were cute.

General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 – Honestly not a whole lot going on with appearance…would’ve liked at least a heart.

The morning started with the orange glow of the West Australian sunrise striking our nectar of the Gods - our trusty 6oz Long Mac. A hidden gem in West Perth, between Kings Park and just a hop, skip and bridge away from the CBD. A touch of elegance and class is evident in MSBB, more so than the usual laid-back cafes we know and love. Our brews did their job to spruce us up for a big day on the tools, but we were more impressed with their fine breakfast establishment. Be sure to mount your presence and come along for a dining experience not to be forgotten.
