Review #131 – Little French Nest

The blokes are big fans of France - it’s rich culture, gastronomy, art, literature, etc. However, almost unanimously, the blokes are NOT fans of French coffee. The global hate French coffee often receives is largely due to the enormous extent to which French beans are roasted - creating dominant flavours of ashtray and smoke. This week, pushing these thoughts to the back of their minds, the blokes tackled Little French Nest in Fremantle.
Vibes 🍃- Vibes here were awesome. This felt like a beachy Fremantle version of classic French bistro with beautiful terrace seating along the street. If the blokes didn’t have places to be and leather-bound-books to study, they would’ve loved to park up here for a day to watch the world go by. Staff were super friendly and food looked insane (see photos).
Taste 👅- The most popular blend on our brerny (brew-journey) - ‘Darkhorse’, roasted by Perth based roasters ‘Five Senses Coffee’. Really hard to taste through such a hot temperature, definitely didn’t help having it diluted through an 8oz. Maybe we caught them on a bad day coffee wise because we know this blend can be lovely when extracted well. The French Toast on the other hand was delicious, one of the best breakfasts we have had!
Temperature 🌡- The hottest coffee we have ever had, verging on nuclear temps
Glass Size 📏 – Despite the glasses false bottom, still too diluted in an 8oz
Froth 🥛 – One of the best parts of the coffee, generally solid, slightly under on a couple
General Appearance/Consistency 🤩 – A couple simple rosettas, pretty faded but definitely consistent
Whilst the coffee we came to enjoy didn’t live up to our hopes, Little French Nest excelled in other areas. A soft, white and wooden aesthetic transported us to the South of France, and le petit dejeuner was something to behold! Alas, the score here is low, but we definitely recommend you check it out for brekkie and brunch. 🇫🇷🥐
66.7/100 on the Brew ‘o’ Meter! 🤖🤝
